19 Bridal Looks We Found on the Chanel Haute Couture Runway

We can always expect some classic looks to pop up on on the Chanel Haute Couture runway (think tweed suiting and smart tailoring), but for Spring 2020, Virginie Viard took us in a very bridal direction. Perhaps you'll remember when Lily-Rose Depp finished the Spring 2017 Couture show in a pink wedding dress and in 2018, Karl Lagerfeld's bride wore a tuxedo and train full of feathers. These were some of our fondest memories of the Chanel Couture bride, but we like how modern she becomes under Virginie's watch at the Grand Palais in Paris.

The Chanel team transformed the space into a cloister garden to mirror images of the ancient Cistercian Abbey of Aubazine, one of the places where Gabrielle Chanel spent much of her childhood. Though this might've been a throwback atmosphere and there were plenty of vintage-inspired silhouettes to fit the bill, the look feels fresh in 2020, when the fashion world is cherishing vintage like never before.

There were drop waists to die for and ornate sequined belts achieving the retro cinch that defines the figure. And the models wore white tights! Perhaps this will be a new bride-cessory to consider? Even though the Couture collection is a celebration of craftsmanship and the most intricate, whimsical gowns a fashion house has to offer, we're taking a moment to appreciate the many, many bridal possibilities, which were a standout this season for sure.
